"He has eyes on all his company." That is how Cardinal Newman begins his definition of a gentleman; and I think there's something to be said for that, you know. It's all very well to be absent-minded, but not to the point of forgetting that there are other people in the room. Be on the alert to do service to others, and stay on the alert till you are quite sure you have finished. Somebody has asked you the way, and you've told him, but he looks the helpless sort of person who would get it wrong. Just watch him down the road, and see, anyhow, that he starts right.
